Crosslinked dendronized polyols (CDPs) that are fluorescent and aqueous soluble are obtained through a sequential ring-opening metathesis polymerization (ROMP), intra-chain ring-closing metathesis (RCM) and hydrolysis process. This strategy renders this process a general approach to improve the quantum yields (QYs), brightness and photostability of fluorophores of different families. In addition, the polymers’ ability to escape endosome after cellular uptake open the doors to more applications in bioimaging and intracellular delivery. <b> </b>
