In honor of Prof. Robert G. Griffin, who pioneered so many tools used in modern solid-state NMR spectroscopy, here I will present examples from current projects in my laboratory that emphasize homonuclear recoupling, heteronuclear decoupling, fast magic-angle spinning and high magnetic fields. The outcomes have particular impact on the understanding of the mode of action of a powerful antifungal drug (amphotericin B), the early events in Parkinson's disease pathology, and the molecular events that initiate the blood coagulation cascade.
