Di- and triglycerol are useful compounds for various industrial fields including fabric softeners, dispersing agents, and pharmaceuticals. However, the productions of di- and triglycerol using base catalysts have been generated by the low yield and selectivity. To improve the yield and selectivity of di- and triglycerol, additives were used as co-catalysts. In order to examine the role of additives in the etherification reaction of glycerol, varied reaction conditions such as the amount of additives, reaction time and reaction temperature were tested.
