We report our studies of metal/ligand cooperative reactions with systems containing complementary electronegative rhodium and electropositive silicon centers connected through single or multiple bonds and supported by a P<sub>2</sub>Si pincer ligand. We have shown that H<sub>2</sub> is activated across the Rh/Si bond, forming a hydrogenation catalyst for strained alkenes. We will show preliminary mechanistic studies of the hydrogenation from GC-MS and gas uptake data as well as efforts to extend catalysis to polar C=O bonds.
