Reactions of oxides of chromium, manganese, iron, cobalt, nickel, and copper with NaOH, Na2O, Na2O2 and KOH were studied at high temperatures. The reactions were followed by visual observations and by thermogravimetric analysis. Intermediates and products were characterized by UV-visible and Raman spectroscopy and magnetic susceptibility
