High School Chemistry teachers play an important role in educating students about global climate change. Challenges that will be met by the current generation of students include developing new energy sources, mitigating the effects of climate change, and altering our energy consumption habits. The NGSS includes standards that directly speak to weather and climate and the Earth and human activity. Climate science is highly interdisciplinary and includes chemistry. This presentation will highlight the connections between climate science and chemistry education and showcase new tools, resources, and pedagogical strategies that enhance climate change literacy and understanding of core chemistry concepts.
