The Ashley River in Charleston, South Carolina has been the site of industrial processes for many years which may have released metals into the waters of the Ashley River. This study will seek to identify whether fish have accumulated toxic metal concentrations in the liver, gills, and muscle of the spotted seatrout. Metals concentrations will be quantified using established Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) methods for sample preparations with Inductively Coupled Plasma-Optical Emission Spectroscopy (ICP-OES) detection. The results of the analysis will then be compared to international standards for maximum metals concentration in fish and LD<sub>50</sub> values.
