Nonlinear regression was performed on conductivity measurements of aqueous rare earth solutions (atomic numbers 57 – 71, except Ce and Pm) taken from the literature. The model chosen was the Turq-Blum-Bernard-Kunz (TBBK) conductivity equation, which has been shown to successfully treat unsymmetrical electrolytes. Thermodynamic ion-pairing constants for the formation of the MX<sup>2+</sup> ion pair, where M is a triply charged rare earth element and X is chloride, bromide, nitrate or perchlorate, as well as the limiting equivalent conductivity of the ion pair have been calculated. These calculations indicate that there is significant ion-pairing in all of these solutions. In general, ion-pairing in the nitrate solutions is the smallest, followed by the perchlorates, bromides and the chlorides.
