Building on previous research several novel flavones were synthesised taking advantage of green solvents ,and using microscale techniques. The use of green solvents minimizes exposure to, and the generation of hazardous waste products while microscale synthesis allows for a cost effective/high impact laboratory experiments for students of organic chemistry. Several novel flavonoids have been synthesised taking advantage of the new green and microscale methods. Fluorescence at various ultraviolet wavelengths and pH levels were measured using samples from this study, as well as, previous syntheses.
