ABSTRACT: The hydricity, or hydride donor ability, of the [(DHMPE)2Ni-H][BF4] complex was measured in water at pH 7 to be 30.0 kcal/mol. This hydride complex is a likely intermediate in a catalytic hydrogen evolution cycle. The stability of the [(DHMPE)2Ni][BF4]2 and its catalytic HER activity have been determined at various pH values.
