Since the emergence of the field of supramolecular chemistry, the study of non-covalent interactions has pervaded all chemical disciplines. The strength of these supramolelcular interactions can range between weak van der Waals interactions, of less than 5 kJ/mol, up to stronger ion-ion interactions which can be 300 kJ/mol. Inspired by the fine control afforded by these non-covalent forces, work in our lab has specifically targeted the anion-π interaction, the attractive force between an anion and an aromatic π-system. In order to achieve a comprehensive understanding of the impact of anion-π interactions on a series of supramolecular architectures, we have developed an integrated approach using experimental and computational methods. Experimentally, we are interested in elaborating supramolecular structures that implement the anion-π interaction as the driving force for assembly. Furthermore, we have demonstrated the role of anion-π interactions in determining structural and physical properties. To complement the ongoing experimental work, computational efforts are being focused on determining the origin and strength of these forces within the large architectures. Ultimately, computational efforts are being used in order to inform future experimental design.<br/>
