Councilors of the Puget Sound Section surveyed members of their local section regarding the employment status and job seeking experiences of section members.  The survey included questions relevant to those seeking employment, those currently employed, and those who have chosen not to be employed.   Recognizing that ACS already does a national employment survey, local section members were asked about parameters such as regional networking strategies for gaining employment, factors they felt provided a competitive edge in the regional job market, the fit of their employment responsibilities relative to their training in chemistry, their relative level of job satisfaction, the length of time in their position, and the length of time it took to find the position they currently hold or that they spent (or have spent so far) seeking employment.  Additional queries related to salary equity and adequacy, and employment security.  The primary goals in conducting the survey were to gather information that may be useful to job seekers and to assess the relative level of employment satisfaction among those working in areas relating to chemistry in the Puget Sound Section.  Results of the survey will be reported.
