The patent laws in the United States prohibit the patenting of natural phenomena.  The difficulty, however, can reside in what constitutes a "natural phenomena."  Various U.S. cases have applied this standard leaving some clarity and yet some arguments. What does this mean for inventions relating to gene sequences and their products?  This presentation will address the patentability of inventions relating to gene sequences and their products.
