Within the framework of the photoanode/photocathode tandem cell for photoelectrochemical (PEC) water splitting, the most important issue is to find (or construct) materials for photoanodes and photocathodes.1 Herein, we summarize our experience of designing different photoanodes, such as n-ZnO based and α-Fe2O3 (hematite) photoanodes. On this basis, we propose effective strategies for improving the performance of the photoanodes.
