Currently Delta College offers a number of blended courses designed with both required Internet and required traditional face-to-face communications. In an effort to reach out to students majoring in science and pursuing pre-professional qualifications careers a hybrid organic chemistry II class has been developed. The purpose is to address student learning needs, accommodate their busy work schedules and co-op responsibilities and address the lengthy face-to-face class time. A blended organic chemistry course has been offered for two consecutive semesters, with students responding to it very favorably. The successes and difficulties of this hybridized educational model will be discussed. The impact of this instructional approach on student learning and understanding of organic chemistry will be presented.
