Analysis of data at 15 minute intervals from USGS 01389005 provided a clear picture of the changes in diversityand abundance of 4 species of algae/bacteria through chlorophyll 'a' measurements. Blue Green algal abundance peaked at different times and in different amounts than green, cryptophytes and diatoms over a 9 day period. Probes installed by USGS include YSI, S::can and bbE and provided in near real time data from two rivers the following parameters nitrate, dissolved organic carbon, dissolved oxygen, temperature, dissolved organic matter, turbidity, specific conductivity, pH, temperature and gage height. The physical, chemical and biological equipment specifications are briefly described as well as the impact on water source selection and drinking water treatment.
