Most countries in the world have underground sewer pipelines. From Figure 1, below, it is natural phenomena that the sulfate ions (SO42-) in sewage are biologically reduced to hydrogen sulfide, H2S, which is evolved from the wastewater and the H2S is oxidized to sulfuric acid, H2SO4, by sulfide oxidizing bacteria, thiobacillus, and creates sewer corrosion, eventual collapse and explosion. The most recent example is the sewer collapse and explosion that had occured in Sauget Roads, Illinois in 2014. Historically, there were many such incidents and disasters in all over the world. Numerous methods of technical publication for prevention of sewer corrosion are available. Those methods include injection of oxidizing chemicals, or the most recent technology since 1994 in the U.S. is to spray sodium hydroxide, NaOH, or 50 to 60% slurry of magnesium hydroxide, Mg(OH)2, by using crown spray process, but those methods lasts only 2 to 3 months or 7 to 9 months, respectively. Many scientists, engineers, and government sewering agencies are well aware of the problems and presented theories and solutions, but these solutions are also temporary. So far, no one in the world presented true solutions for the prevention of sewer corrosion, collapse and explosion. Our persistent research successfully developed a realistic corrosion theory, for the first time in the world, and formulated the following corrosion equation: C = PstfVffs[K]×FH2S/A From Figure 2, there is a recently U.S. Patented technology which can be lasted more than 50 months or semi-permanent.
