Scorpionate ligands provide the benefit of hemilability while preventing complete ligand loss. Investigations into Tp'Pt systems (Tp' = hydridotris(3,5-dimethylpyrazolyl)borate) show the importance of the hemilabile ligand to facilitate the Pt(II/IV) interconversion for various systems including mimics of the water-gas shift reaction.  Incorporating a more weakly binding ligand seemed promising for introducing nucleophiles without causing ligand loss. Herein we discuss the synthesis and metalation of a series of asymmetric scorpionate ligands bearing two pyrazolyl rings and one triazolyl ring. This new ligand framework showed surprising electrophilicity at the metal center, but the addition of an electrophilic substituent on the triazole ligand revealed no significant electronic influence. Investigations into the reactivity of platinum bound to these ligands are discussed.
