We report the synthesis, characterization and studies into the GC column ability of L-Phenylalanine ethyl ester bis(perfluoroethanesulfonyl)imide ionic liquid. The ionic liquid was prepared using a metathesis reaction between lithium bis-(perfluoroethylsulfonyl) imide (LiBETi) and L-Phenylalanine ethyl ester hydrochloride. This chiral ionic liquid (CIL) was found to be highly viscous and exhibited a high thermal decomposition temperature making it an excellent material for a GC stationary phase. The CIL was incorporated in a capillary column by static coating and evaluated for its enantioselective capability using various chiral molecules.<br/>
