The development of catalytic upgrading systems based on the numerous works of biomass degradation and hydrodeoxygenation impoved the efficiency of the production of hydrocarbon fuels from biomass. Although the efficient catalysis systems have been reported, the continous process, which is indispensable to the mass production of biomass-derived fuels, is difficult to achieve because of the plugging occuring by the fast formation of cokes, which form because of heavy oils, solid imuprities, and acidity. In this study, we develop the continuos flow hydrodeoxygenation process to convert actual biomass pyrolysis oils, obtained by the pyrolysis of lignocellulose to deoxygenated hydrocarbon fuels. The origin of plugging and coke formation during the continuous process is studied and the less formation of cokes is achieved by the modification of processes and the use of appropriate catalysts. The selected catalysts are characterized using NH<sub>3</sub>-TPD, pyridine-FT-IR, TEM, SEM, and N<sub>2</sub>-physisorption, which demonstrate the improved reduction of cokes by the modification of catalyst properties.
