ZSM-5 zeolite is one of the most important commercial zeolites, which find wide applications in catalysis, adsorption and separation. The excellent shape selectivity of ZSM-5 makes it an efficient catalyst for methanol to gasoline (MTG) reaction, due to its uniform micropore structure with sinusoidal channels in [100] and straight channels of in [010] [1]. It is shown that the straight channels parallel to the b-axis are favorable for mass transfer, while the sinusoidal channels have relatively higher product selectivity [2]. Herein, sheet-like ZSM-5 zeolites were developed under one-pot solvent-free route in the presence of urea, and the morphology of ZSM-5 can be adjusted by the urea amount. ZSM-5 zeolites with high crystallinity, long c-axis, short b-axis and hierarchical pore systems were synthesized successfully and confirmed by various technologies such as XRD, SEM and N2-isotherms. The prepared hierarchical zeolite exhibited excellent MTG performance, where a methanol conversion of 100%, a high C5+ selectivity of 63.8% and a long MTG lifetime of 900 hrs were found at 370oC and a methanol WHSV of 1.0 h-1.
