<br/>In the recent years, transition metal catalysis has been very efficient strategy for synthesizing various heterocyclic compounds. The synthesis of natural product's backbone has been a challenging task in the field of organic synthesis and organic chemists have been trying to resolve this problem by utilizing various chemical tools present till today in organic chemistry. C-H activation has emerged as an important tool for the synthesis of various natural products and heterocycles. Here we report catalytic processes for the atom-efficient synthesis of N-heterocyclic compounds by C-H activation. We will discuss various transtion metal catalyst precursors, ligands, additives, solvent conditions and the reaction mechanism involved during the screening of these catalytic methods.
