Organic light emitting diodes (OLEDs) are an excellent platform for lighting and display technologies, but traditional evaporative deposition processes keep costs high. A sought after approach to minimize overhead is to convert one or more of the device fabrication steps to a solution-based process. To address this issue we have developed novel, solution processable, phosphorescent polymers with high solid-state photoluminescent quantum yields. By photopatterning these materials on conductive substrates, luminescent pixels with excellent spatial resolution were obtained, further demonstrating the utility of these materials for OLED displays.
