A course was developed for upper level undergraduates to explore theoretical and pragmatic approaches to applying NMR spectroscopic methods to biochemical systems.  The course is organized into three general topics reflecting the range of biochemical NMR spectroscopy applications in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries: protein NMR, NMR screening, and mixture analysis & metabolomics.  Each topic is covered over a 4-5 week module during a 14-week semester that meets once per week in a 2.5 hour time period.  Topics are introduced using chalk-talks during the first week of each module.  Subsequent weeks of each module involve discussing applications from the literature as well as hands-on data collection in the NMR lab.  Data sets are collected and analyzed on dipeptides, enzyme reactions, and mixtures (energy drinks).  A portion of the final week of each module involves a videoconference (or teleconference) with the corresponding author of one of the assigned literature papers.  The author does not make a presentation.  Instead, the students engage the author with their questions after having read the paper and explored the topic.  The syllabus and exams, along with lists of literature discussed and authors engaged in the classroom, will be distributed.<br/>
