In 2006, our group published the first Photo-thermal therapy of cancer cells using Gold Nanorods and near infrared light.1 In 2007-2008, we published the first success treating a cancer-stricken mouse.2 Since then, active research in this field has been carried out on many animals. I will present the basics of the technique and show the results of its application on a large number of mice, cats, dogs (and horses) carried out in collaboration with our partners in the USA at Emory University Winship Cancer Institute3 and in Cairo, Egypt, at the National Research Center4 and Cairo University, Egypt.5
