Two-dimensional (2D) carbon materials have attracted much attention in the past two decades due to their good conductivity, large surface area, high chemical stability and other distinguished properties. Large-area graphene-like carbon nanosheets were synthesized via a bottom-up interface-facilitated solvothermal synthesis method using toluene as carbon source and HCl as the catalyst. P123 played a key role in the formation of 2D nanosheets between the interface of the toluene (oil phase) and HCl (water phase) by facilitating their interaction. The carbon nanosheets were characterized by SEM, TEM, HRTEM, XRD, Raman, etc. The formation mechanism of the large-area graphene-like carbon nanosheets was also proposed. This process show several advantages of fabricating carbon nanosheets such as mild condition, low cost and good crystallinity.
