Controlled radical polymerization strategies are prevalent in both academia and industry for the preparation of well-defined polymers. In this lecture we will explore a metal-free strategy to control polymer processes using light. By turning the light source ON and OFF, the reaction pathways can be switched from one state to another. We will present the development of this metal-free atom transfer radical polymerization and highlight a simple benchtop approach to polymer brush nanostructures.   <br/>
