The mesoporous materials with well dispersived vanadia species show outstanding catalytic performances in the oxidative dehydrogenation (ODH) of propane reaction. Among the supported vanadia catalysts, TiO2-supported vanadia catalysts are more active than the ZrO2, Al2O3 or SiO2-supported vanadia catalysts. Mesostructured cellular foams (MCF) with three-dimensionally ordered large pores and high surface area are suitable for dispersion of active species and reaction products diffusion. Herein, we report a direct hydrothermal method combining with pH adjusting for the facile synthesis of vanadium and titanium-incorporated MCF and apply them as catalysts for the ODH of propane. The TEM images of the samples in Figure 1a-e exhibit that the well-ordered arrays of the mesoporous channels are principally maintained with increasing V content, while the order of the mesoporous structure has been partially destroyed for the 3V5Ti/MCF(the added atom ratios vanadium/silica and titannium/silica are 3% and 5%, respectively) sample with the highest vanadium content. Figure 1g shows the UV-Vis diffuse reflectance spectra of VTi/MCF samples, indicating that VOx species were highly dispersed on anatase TiO2. The anatase TiO2 nanoparticles are very small (not detected by XRD patterns in Figure 1f) and dispersed on the mesoporous pore walls. Catalytic performances of the VTi/MCF catalysts are summarized in Figure 1i, the highest selectivity sum of C2H4 + C3H6 (76.9%) is obtained over the 0.5V5Ti/MCF catalyst; meanwhile, a high space-time yield (STYpropylene) of 1.5 kgpropylenekgcat−1h−1 is obtained at 600oC.
