Recently, considerable effort has been directed towards the synthesis of multiblock copolymers. Although several polymerization methods have been utilized to allow access to the synthesis of multiblock copolymers, yet, there is no direct application for such complex macromolecules. Herein we report the quantitative and one pot, light-mediated synthesis of sequence controlled multilblock copolymers consisting simultaneously of hydrophobic, hydrophilic and semi-fluorinated segments. In the absence of time consuming protection/deprotection steps functional and narrow dispersed ABCDE and EDCBABCDE (&lt;1.16) multiblock copolymers were directly obtained with quantitative or near quantitative conversion achieved between the iterative monomer additions. SAXS analysis demonstrated very well ordered structures, highlighting significant variations on the phase separation behavior of these materials upon alternating the monomer sequence. This approach greatly expands the access and availability of tailored polymeric materials offering a versatile and inexpensive platform for the preparing of high order multiblock materials consisting of various properties with additional application aris-ing from the unique phase separation of these structures and the precise spatiotemporal “on/off” control, when desired.
