Carboxylic acids are widely available, often non-toxic, and stable, making them ideal starting materials for a variety of synthetic sequences. Cross-coupling is an invaluable tool for the regioselective construction of complex molecular structures. Incorporation of alkyl carboxylic acids as alkyl radical precursors into a cross-coupling manifold will greatly enable synthetic chemists in forging C–C bonds.
