Fluorescent gold nanoparticles (AuNP) with gallic acid ligands can be very useful tools for biomedical applications such as diagnostics and therapy. Self-synthesized gallic acid AuNP were analyzed by Dynamic Light Scattering (DLS) regarding their quality and size distribution. Results were compared to those obtained from UV-Vis and TEM measurements. DLS measurements were repeated at various time intervals to determine long-term stability.<br/>Due to surface plasmon resonance, AuNPs strongly heat up their immediate surroundings if excited by electromagnetic radiation close to the resonance wavelength. This photothermal effect can be used in therapy. Photothermal measurements on the GaAuNP solutions were carried out using a MGL III 532nm-300mW laser.
