Open access reporting can only be as reliable as the data that is collected when an author submits his/her manuscript. Publisher support of open access and funder mandates starts at the point of initial interaction with authors during manuscript submission. The submission process requires an author to provide a spectrum of information related to the manuscript, including accurate identification of funding sources that supported the work. Variations or errors in this data can cause confusion, mismatched reporting, and a potential lack of compliance with funding mandates.<br/> <br/>At ACS Publications, we are committed to continually improving our author submission systems and the data collection process to ensure the data collected is accurate and the process is user friendly. During this session, we will outline the updates that have been made to our workflows, discuss new partnerships, lessons learned, and describe enhancements we plan to implement to further improve our systems and processes.
