In this contribution, we demonstrated that neophylpalladacycle (I) react with BrPy, at room temperature, via oxidative addition of Csp2-Br bond to give a Pd(IV), as intermediate, where the used solvent and COD auxiliary ligand plays a crucial role in the mechanism reaction. Later, formation of alky-compound [Pd(COD)(CH2CMe2C6H4Py)(Br)] (1a) must take place after a Csp2-Csp2 reductive elimination between the Neophyl and Pyridyl fragments. Finally, 1a evolves in competitive pathway reactions to the expected binuclear compound [Pd(CH2CMe2C6H4Py)(Br)]2 (1) and the bipyridine complex. Finally, a small library of seven-membered palladacycles and asymmetric bipyridine has been achieved.
