The effects of Lewis acids upon late-metal organometallic complexes are discussed. Lewis acid additives are found to associate with various functionalities including acyl complexes, and the strength of the associations can be determined through spectroscopic and computational approaches. The accelerating effects of additives on catalytic reactions are evaluated, with the objective of obtaining improved reactivity and understanding the molecular origins of accelerating effects.
