Cyclic ethers are very common in bioactive compounds, natural products and many other synthetic compounds. Herein is disclosed a copper-catalyzed coupling of alkyl trifluoroborate salts with alkenols for the formation of variously substituted cyclic ethers with moderate to good yield. The reaction is thought to involve carbon radical intermediates.
