Given success with carbon sulfur bond coupling at rhodium, our group has shifted efforts to apply similar reactions to a cobalt system. Phenyl thiophenolato cobalt complexes chelated by the meridionally binding PNP ligand were synthesized to investigate C-S bond formation at a cobalt (III) metal center. Derivatives of this system were synthesized, thermolyzed, and the mixture of substituted sulfides produced were used to determine the prospect of catalytic activity at cobalt.<br/>
