Storing electrons efficiently is a fundamental challenge for sustainable energy technologies. Electrons can be stored electrochemically inside batteries or chemically into molecules. Here I present that nanoscale chemistry has created a new paradigm for electrochemical and chemical storage of electrons, enabling exciting breakthroughs on creating high-energy rechargeable batteries, finding new efficient catalysts and extracting valuable resources (uranium and lithium) from sea water.<br/>
