The progress in our modern world and the continuous advances in technology have resulted in greater water demands which is traduced in greater loads of wastewater. In the case of industrial wastewater, it may contain a variety of hazardous substances such us suspended solids, oils, metals, organics and nanoparticles. The cleaning of wastewaters prior to discharge, is mandatory, and companies need to employ efficient cleaning processes to be in compliance. A type of pollutant substances are organic dyes which are widely employed in the textile, pharmaceutical, food, cosmetics, plastics, photographic and paper industries and in the last years nanoparticles have been incorporated to the list. The Fenton process is a suitable chemical method for the degradation of organic pollutants under mild reaction conditions and provide an alternative environmentally friendly way to remediate wastewater. In this work, the effect of the presence of Ag, Au and ZnO nanoparticles in the degradation of allura red AC and brilliant blue FCF dyes was studied using the Fenton process. The results show that the presence of nanoparticles decrease the efficiency of Fenton process to degrade these organic dyes. ZnO nanoparticles showed the most inhibitory effect in the kinetic of the dyes oxidation. <br/>
