Aggregated organosilica nanotubes with large aromatic bridging groups were synthesized using Pluronic block copolymer surfactants at relatively low ratios of the framework precursor to the surfactant. The aggregated nanotubes had inner diameter around 5 nm. The aggregated nanotubes with surfaces modified with sulfonic acid groups showed excellent catalytic activity for the esterification reaction of ethanol with acetic acid. The synthesized materials were characterized using nitrogen adsorption, small-angle X-ray scattering, transmission electron microscopy, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, <sup>13</sup>C and<sup> 29</sup>Si solid-state CP/MAS NMR.
