A vast number of former Florida International University Biscayne Bay Campus (FIU BBC) science club members have gone on to attend graduate school, various professional schools or attain coveted positions in industry. The FIU BBC Science Club has prided itself on helping students pursue careers in academic research, health care, teaching and industry. The FIU BBC Science Club mainly recruits science students, however, all students are encouraged to join and participate. The purpose of this project is to specifically highlight the clubs’ role in helping prepare students for their prospective career goals. In doing so, we explored the process of student development and how club’s activities equip students with necessary professional skills and experiences to achieve success after graduation. After a thorough data analysis, and assembling information on former club members after graduation, we have identified unique aspects of our club which contribute to positive outcomes post graduation. In addition, this project allowed us to highlight some of the weaker areas of our professional development initiatives which will be used to develop new ideas to better serve club members’ career goals while continuing to promote science, education and community service.
