The implementation of research based labs in introductory chemistry courses serves as a way to get students interested in research, and has shown to have positive influence on students understanding of chemistry. This poster presents the development, pilot lab, and initial findings of a biochemistry research based lab activity embedded in the general chemistry curriculum. The activity was piloted in the Honors Chemistry II section (CHM 132H) during the Spring 2017 semester. This poster discusses the methods and evaluation of the pilot experience, including student responses to the experience. Additionally, potential modifications for the next implementation will be presented.
