21<sup>st</sup> Century education reforms increasingly demand the use of so called "student centered" approaches to teaching, such as student engagement, active learning, constructivist pedagogies, and experiential learning.  Incorporating these elements into the classroom can be challenging, even for those educators who believe in their implicit value.  The Master’s Industrial Internship Program at the University of Oregon, founded in 1998, builds “T” shaped individuals by equipping students with real-world technical and professional knowledge. These skills not only help students gain employment, but help them excel in industrial and government laboratories. The program’s success is evident in the employability of our students- 98% complete 9-month paid internships and 90% are employed within 3-months of graduation. Please join me as I describe the program and how experiential learning can be incorporated into STEM curricula.
