Both cuprates and Fe-based superconductors, the two known high Tc superconducting families, show rich emergent phenomena near the superconductivity (SC). To understand the mechanism of unconventional SC, it is crucial to unravel the nature of these emergent orders. In this talk, I will review current progress in the study of the Ca1−xRExFeAs2 Fe pnictide superconductor (112 FPS), which show SC up to 42 K, the highest bulk Tc among all nonoxide FPS. Due to the distortion of the FeAs sublattice caused by the existence of zig-zag arsenic chains in the crytal strcuture, the 112 FPS is an exception among all Fe based superconductors being lack of the global C4 rotational symmetry. It is thus important to extract the similarities and differences between 112 and other FPS so that critical ingredients in inducing SC in FPS can be filtered. In this talk, the nature of competing orders in the parent phase, the effect of Co doping and the application of external pressure will be discussed.
