<br/>The vinylsilyl anion has two major contributing resonance structures; one with the lone pair of electrons located on a silicon atom (1), which can also be viewed as a simple vinyl silyl anion and a second structure with the lone pair of electrons localized on a carbon atom (2). In this poster we will present our attempts to synthesize (4), a precursor to (3). These efforts have included several different approaches including a addition-elimination on 9-methylenefluorene and a novel Wittig reaction.
