We developed a simple and novel method for the synthesis of the hybrid photocatalyst composed of WS2 nanosheets and palladium nanoparticles (Pd NPs) for C-C coupling reactions under visible light. WS2 nanosheets were decorated with Pd NPs (2-3 nm) through the spontaneous reduction and nucleation of K2PdCl4 at room temperature without addition of any other reducing agents. The density of Pd NPs was adjusted by varying the amount of K2PdCl4. The developed hybrid catalyst showed excellent photocatalytic activity for C-C coupling reactions under visible light irradiation.
