Fluorinated β-lactams and β-aminoesters were stereoselectively synthesized in good yield via a zinc enolate cyclization with an imine. The products were separated by flash chromatography, and the structures were confirmed with <sup>19</sup>FNMR and <sup>1</sup>HNMR. The reaction was performed under anhydrous and hydrous conditions to determine the effect on stereoselectivity as well as selective formation of β-lactams or β-aminoesters. Purified products were tested for antibacterial activity with model gram positive organisms.
