Copper metal has been shown to discourage the growth of bacteria both as copper metal and as nanoparticles suspended in plastic. Unfortunately, the health effects of copper nanoparticles are unclear. In this work, a method was developed for creating a microbe resistant paint by adding copper (II) ions to polyvinyl acetate (one of the key compounds in acrylic paint). These compounds, taken together, have not yet been investigated for maintaining anti-microbial properties. Microbe resistance was tested using <i>E. coli</i> bacteria. Investigative results will be presented for the copper (II) and polyvinyl acetate formulation and the ability to prevent bacterial growth.<br/>
