PubChem BioAssay at the National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) of NIH was set up in 2004 to support the open access of research data. With a continuous development over the past 12 years to meet the needs of the research community, PubChem BioAssay has become the largest database and public information system for biological results generated from small molecule and RNAi screenings. The rapid growth of the information resource is largely attributed to the non-stopping support of the research community. The collaborations between PubChem, biological data providers, additional “third” parties providing curations and tools, as well as journal publishers supporting research data sharing, will be discussed.
