Environmental justice focuses on the idea that all people, regardless of race or income, receive fair treatment with respect to the development, implementation, and enforcement of environmental laws, regulations, and policies. Preliminary results from a pilot undergraduate Community Innovations Project (CIP), which takes an interdisciplinary community based approach to undergraduate research, will be presented.  Measurements of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) were conducted using passive air samplers (PAS).  Samplers were investigated for variability, and measured concentrations of PAHs at seven sites throughout Hall, Gwinnett, and Fulton counties (Georgia) will be presented.  Preliminary data investigating reported concentrations as a function of local demographics (percent minority population, percent poverty population, and percent linguistic isolation) will also be presented.
