Previous research indicates that vanadium oxide complexes disrupt cell signaling, thus aiding in the treatment of Type II Diabetes. To investigate, alpha-helical peptides are combined in solution with purified VO(acac)<sub>2</sub> for the synthesis of two complexes. The sequences of these alpha-helical peptides that are used to bind with the vanadium are BAMABMAB and ABAPyrBAHAB. Structural analysis and characterization of the synthesized complex is completed using NaCl plate IR, UV-Vis spectroscopy, KBr pellet IR and NMR spectroscopy. The data collected from the various spectroscopies indicate that a unique complex was synthesized.
